The best parts of the story had to be the shades of grey. They made us sometimes think that even in a word with demons not everything is how it seems. Not every demon is evil, not every human is good. And without a doubt doing the right thing would and will suck. Its a story portraying reality.
Both series also had their freakishly funny moments. From the dialog to certain storylines. Nevermind the Buffy Musical which I still can catch myself singing for no apparent reason. Cavemen versus Astronauts who would win? I still don’t think we have a proper answer to that. Movie idea? I think so.
And I refuse to ignore Angels part. His series is a spin off that not only got out of the Buffy shadow but managed to build its own legacy. A vampire that was cursed with a soul trying to hero. How could that not become a classic? Movies should steal that story line, that's how good it is!
Not only that but his impressive group of friends (like Buffy’s) compliment him perfectly. Sometimes both these shows are more about the group then the hero themselves. And sometimes they aren’t the most powerful or epic. Who could forget that it was Xander who defeated Dark Willow. Or Wesley’s amazingly sad death in the last episode of Angel. 2 normal people in a world of monsters. Everyone had impact.
Buffy is a story that seems to continue on via comic books, rumors of a new movie, offshoots that never happened and video games. Its a legacy of storytelling that will never ever seem to go away. And I do believe that is a great thing.
New people will be exposed to it as time goes on. It may be made fun of for its corny graphics but I ask when you do become exposed to it look at it like the stories they are. Heroes versus villians and the immortal shades of grey they threw into our faces on such a regular basis. So remember everybody while they may be older series they are worth the watch and are available on DVD, and even on Netflix. Give them a watch! And always remember WWBD!
