I Love Disney. I have always Loved Disney, and will always Love Disney. I was raised on Disney.
I mean, hell, the first time i went to Disneyland i was 3 months old.
In the Span of 1 year i ended up ruining 3 VHS tapes of The Little Mermaid, because i watched it too damn much when i was a child. All Day Err’ Day!
These movies, the imagination, creativity, and belief that it instilled in me as a child, and adult have molded me into the person i am today.
It’s my home away from home. My escape.
I love how i can come home after a horrid day, turn on one of my favorite disney movies, and be smiling 5 minutes later.
So, here are my Top 6 Favorite Disney Movies.
Why 6? Because I couldn’t narrow it to 5, honestly.
#6 - Finding Nemo
Lets be honest, i mostly picked this movie because it combines two of my BIGGEST loves. Aquatics, and Disney.
Plus, i very much relate to the character of Dory. Because i’m actually a Blue Tang in Disguise.
No, seriously. I’ve got some brain damage, along with that is some bad memory loss. For quite a while after i had my head smacked around in a car accident, i was a lot like Dory. Forgetting things constantly, having to be reminded of where i am, where i’m going, what i was doing. I Still have Days like that.
Dory is my spirit animal.
Plus, She’s voiced by Ellen! Who wouldn’t love that?!
As most Disney/ Pixar movies, it gives you a good helping of heartbreak. Which is honestly the sign of a great pixar movie. I’m often left drowning in a puddle of my own tears within the first 20 minutes of one.
As for finding Nemo, not even 10 minutes in and i’m a mess.
This one is also very near and dear to my heart. In fact, my most recent tattoo is a scene from this movie.
This story is my relationship with my mother to a T. Well, minus the whole turning her into a Bear part, and well, me being a princess. However, i can rock a crown like a badass.
Plus, i wouldn’t marry a man to take my rightful place as queen of Genovia. Err, i mean Dunbroch. Same thing.
#4 The Lion King
This movie doesn’t really hold a deeper meaning. It’s just the pure nostalgia of it. I don’t remember the first time i saw the Lion king, since i was about 4 or 5 years old. But, i do remember watching it in my early teens and still being amazed by it.
I also remember when i was in high school, one of my friends boyfriends lied through his teeth, saying that he was the singing voice of Young Simba. My friend, being super gullible believed him, up until he told me. I Laughed, and got into my “Let me explain you a thing” mode. I’ve always been the Disney fact person in my circle of friends. No matter what it is, if it has to do with disney they’ll ask me. If i don’t already know the answer, i’ll find out very quickly.
Oh, and the singing voice of young Simba was Jason Weaver.
#3 The Little Mermaid
You probably thought this was going to be number one, didn’t you?
Most people think this is my favorite disney movie after i tell them how obsessed i was with it as a child.
I Loved this movie. I would dance, and sing along with it all day.
Putting on this movie was actually the only time my mother was able to get me to sit still (well, more like stay out of shit) as a child. She’d plop me down and let me watch it while she went and did laundry, or something else she needed to get done.
I still adore the little mermaid. However, back then i loved Ariel. Now? It’s all about Ursula. I Need a Sassy drag queen octopus in my life.
She’s Voiced by pat carroll, who is amazing. She also Voiced Morgana in TLM2. The best thing about Pat, and ursula, and probably a good reason why i love them-Pat carroll is the only person to voice her for anything Disney. I’m talking movies, the TV show, House of mouse, Kingdom hearts, Fantasmic, etc.
She’s one of my favorite actors. I’ve never met her in person, but it is a Life goal.
I also plan on getting an Ursula Tattoo one of these days, and having my artist copy the Autograph i have. “Oceans of Love, Ursula - Pat Carroll.”
#2 Beauty and the Beast.
Yes. Romantic Stockholm’s syndrome.
I remember watching this when i was younger, and having the biggest crush on Belle. However, i don’t believe i knew what a crush was at that time. I remember wanting, and still do want, Beast’s suit from the ballroom scene. It’s also pictured on the poster. I thought that if i had that suit, i would be dapper as fuck.
The music in this movie is probably my favorite out of all of the disney films. While most people will tell you their favorite song from this movie is “Beauty and the beast,” i won’t. While that song is beautiful, and Angela Lansbury is fantastic.
My favorite song from the film is one of the shorter once, “Belle” (reprise). Paige O’Hara’s voice gave me chills with that song.
It’s still one of my Go-to songs to belt out in the shower.
Yup! My favorite movie, is actually the same as Walt Disney’s favorite!
First, on the Walt’s favorite note. People, in the past, have argued with me, saying that another one of the films was his favorite. I have not seen any record of him saying another film was his favorite. I have seen him say that Dumbo was his, though. Do a youtube search for “Intro to Dumbo” if you don’t believe me. This is what he says,
“From time to time people ask me, which is the favorite out of all the pictures that we’ve made? Well, it’s the one that you’re going to see right now, in this program. The story of the little elephant with the big ears, Dumbo. “ - Walt Disney
Anyways, of course my favorite movie would be one about my favorite animal! Before Brave came along, this was actually my mother and mines movie. The Bond between Ms. Jumbo, and Jumbo Jr. was just like ours.
In fact, when i first decided to dabble in video editing, i would make AMVs. My first one was with clips from Dumbo with the song “Mama”, by the Spice Girls.
However, there is a scene i can not watch in this movie. That’s the “Baby Mine” scene. Because i will become a blubbering bundle of feels the second i see it. No matter how many time i watch it, or the fact that i KNOW his mother will be fine-it makes be cry ugly tears.
Jumbo Jr. is tied (with Eeyore) as my favorite disney character, as well.
Note: Yes, i call him Jumbo Jr. Not Dumbo. Jumbo Jr was the name he was given by his mother. Dumbo was the name originally given to him by Prissy The Elephant, to make fun of him.
Honorable mention - 101 Dalmatians.
While i do love this movie, along with 95% of Disney’s movies. This is an Honorable Mention, simply because it’s my Dog, Sydney’s, favorite movie.
How do i know my Dog has a favorite movie? Simple. I was watching it one day, and he walked into the room, sat next to me and stared at the TV, occasionally letting out quiet barks. He’d never done that before.
This is the ONLY thing he has ever watched on TV. Everything else he’s looked at once, dismissed it and walked over to me to beg for a treat or belly rubs.
Hope you all enjoyed my Top 5...err 6 List!
Have A Magical Day,
